Rangers Baseball

LAST post for tonight - a collage of my favorite baseball pics so far.  We are only three games into the Spring season so there will be plenty more to share as we go forward.  We also have our first select tournament coming up!  Can't wait to get some good shots of the Barefoot Baseball team! (yes-the will have shoes on.  Barefoot is the name of the team!)

Farewell, Estelle

The weekend we moved from Estelle, we took one last trip out to the gun range in the pasture behind the house.  We frequented the pasture, gun range, creeks, river and hunting spots behind the house while we lived there and I am pretty sure I can speak for all four of us when I say that is the only thing we miss about living out there.

Cason got to shoot his .22 Cricket he got for his 1st birthday.  (Heath bought each boy one of these when they turned one but doesn't allow them to shoot it until they are 3 - so this was perfect timing.)

Cason checkin out his skills:

We had a great time being out there togehter one final trip.  We are having fun making new memories here in our "new" house, but like I said earlier -  sure do miss the option of hitting the back pasture on a Saturday afternoon when there's nothing else going on!

Backyard baseball games and a black eye...

As if we don't spend enough time practicing, playing and watching baseball- the first thing the boys want to do when we get home in the evenings, is - you guess it - play baseball.  Even on the days we don't have to rush back out the door and hit the field for practice or a game, they want to hit the backyard!  Coincidentally enough, we literally have a practice field right behind our house.  The boys love to go out there and play as a family and there is usually at least one or two neighborhood kids that join in.  One day in particular, Cason really wanted to pitch.  I had been pitching the ball to Lucas for several minutes so I let him take a turn.

I gave him the ball, and just as he tossed it in the air toward Lucas, I told Lucas to NOT hit it as hard as he normally does - to just tap it since Cason was pretty close in front of him.  Well, I no more got those words out and ...WHAM! Lucas smacked the ball, it slammed into Cason right in the eye, he literally flies backward and lands on the ground screaming.  I may or may not have had a minor panic attack.  It took a lot of TLC and an ice pack to make it all better but it wasn't long before he was ready to "hang out" some more.  Literally.

He was still a little pouty here and there.

And ultimately decided that for the time being, he'd watch the game from BEHIND the fence. ;)

Cason is such a tough little booger- not much can get him down.

So Glad.

I have to tell you that I’m SO glad its Friday and so ready for the weekend. The first week back at school after Spring Break is a little jarring to the system. Especially because Lucas brought home some math homework that involved fact families, and fractions and some other math-related word that I wound up having to Google - that's sad. Remember - he's only in the 1st grade...So, that sound you heard was my head exploding.

Numbers are not my gift.

Unless it’s figuring out what 30% off $49.99 equals. Except that’s not true. Even then I just kind of round up to my best guess. That’s why I think everything costs $15.00.

So - back to the weekend we are. Thank goodness!! Last weekend, we went to the State Park here in town and became one with nature - it was great and so very needed.

Last Saturday night, all was quite after a busy day. Dinner was over. Baths were over. I had just settled the boys in their beds and went to check on little bit. He asked me if I would lay down "wish" him. I told him I would after I cleaned the kitchen. I figured he’d be asleep before he called me on it.

After I cleaned up and ate a little snack, I decided to see if I could figure out why our computer was acting weird. I leaned into the Luke's room and he was sound asleep. Then I peeked in to Cason's room, and he smiled right back at me. He was waiting for me. He patted the spot next to him on the bed and said, “I saved a ‘pot for you.” I grinned back at him and walked into the room. Then he pointed to the pillow laying next to his own and said, “I pudda pillow out.” It was all I could do to keep from bursting into tears. he was waiting up, he cleared a spot on his bed for me, and he’d even gotten me a pillow to lay my weary head on right next to him. Well, there was no work to be done at that point. I crawled into bed with him. He checked to make sure I didn’t need covers. Then he rolled over to face me and held my hand. His little face was six inches from my own. I smoothed his crazy blonde hair and kissed his face and prayed he would remember this 10 years from now. I fell asleep minutes later. And I don’t even nap.

We are all in such a hurry. I am the worst offender. Oh, but I almost missed this. I almost hurried myself right past this sweet time. And he probably would have fallen asleep eventually without me, but then I wouldn’t have followed through on my promise and he would have gone to sleep sad. I don’t want to hurry past these moments. I don’t want to miss even one if I can help it.

So This weekend, we are not doing too much at all other than relishing in these sweet moments, resting and maybe a few small projects together as a family - no huge plans!

I am so old... But, as I said earlier, this week has been nothing short of jarring - literally something going on EVERY night this week. Baseball. More baseball. AdvoCare. Baseball. Work. Meetings. Late nights due to Legislative Session. Laundry. Webinars. Phone calls. Birthday planning (shhh). Baseball. Groceries. I digress. Sheesh.

Soooo

Sooo, it has been a while. A long, long, incredibly too long while since my last pop in. I have a confession to make … I’ve been going to bed at a relatively reasonable time the last several months which kills anytime I had to blog. Ha! I am lying.

I have not gone to bed early- at all.  You know me better than that!

In January, we drudged through lots of rainy, cold weather but were blessed with a gorgeous, near 80 degree Saturday for celebrating Cason’s THIRD birthday party! He is such a big boy.

A few other things have taken place…Heath and I celebrated my birthday in Ft. Worth with friends.  We were there for AdvoCare’s 20th Anniversary celebration anyway, so why not?!

We moved.  I mean, we are Moving.  Still.  Our clothes, dishes, toilet paper, towels, and soap are unpacked so far… so we are doing good right?

Our AdvoCare business has been just … crazy. Crazy-good. Like… amazing, really and can’t really explain what a blessing it has been for us.  We are all healthy, full of energy… and our finances have never looked better, honestly!

Oh, and we are still moving.  Two weeks later. On top of all that Heath has been travelling for work.  Eek!

You see, baseball started too.  And that sort of put a damper on things.  Speaking of, Lucas is playing league ball AND was also picked up on a select team.  Completely NUTS. Really.Did I mention that we are moving? Still.

I would say at least every other night, this blog is on my mind when my head hits the pillow. And I think I will for sure, most definitely blog tomorrow. pshh. And tomorrow comes and goes and I never did blog. Tag me a slacker. I have so much to post on here and so many pictures to share – have mercy. It will take me forever!!! BUT I will have to start soon – I want it all posted before I can really rest again… right?

So be on the look out for posts to start appearing … again. Whoo-hoo! I promise to start carving out a time to blog. And I’m pretty sure since I just stated that sentence {the sentence before this sentence,} one of the besties {who will remain anonymous} will remind me daily to blog. I know her. She will text, email, facebook, … and call wondering where the heck the next post is. Seriously, it will be borderline harassment. Again, I know this girl.

I digress- so, here are a few pics to satisfy the Jackson journal cravings for now.
