May has given me a run for my money.

Sometime around the beginning of May I either heard or read that May is the silent December. It’s packed full of events and parties and can you send $10 to school for the party and another $15 to school to buy a t-shirt and oh we need to get $25 for the yearbook but don’t forget to bring snack and sunscreen for the field day on Friday!

Not to mention, We've had baseball and baseball and baseball meetings and baseball practices and baseball championships and baseball pictures ... I feel like Forrest Gump (shrimp soup, shrimp sandwiches- you get the picture). And baseball isn't over- Luke made all stars again so the fun is really just beginning. And it really is fun, I really do love it. We've planned showers and class parties and awards ceremonies and board meetings and retirement parties and chocolate parties and taken TONS of pictures, all of which I love... But, It’s all exhausting and busy and I can’t remember when I’ve been so ready for summer.

Now that May is almost over, I'll show you what our ridiculous schedule looked like this month.  I can share it now that we've done all these things and all of you crazy people don't have the opportunity to view my calendar and plan a mass robbery of my vast riches. HA! (this is a screen shot of the family calendar we share.  its an iphone app, too.  it's called cozi and it works so well for us.  we pick a password to sign in with and can each add events to the calendar that we can both see. Heath added the I LOVE YOU on Thursdays.  The Cozi app sends a text message reminder to my phone every Thursday at the same time.  It's pretty neat and has been a real life saver for our crazy schedules. )

Tell me you're not exhausted.  But summer is so close. There are 1 1/2 days left of school. ONE AND ONE HALF. And then I can put away the lunch box  and the blue shirt on Wednesdays for three glorious months.

You didnt know I was in tight with the one and only "Jackson Five" did you? I know what you are thinking... they are a little lighter skinned in real life, aren' they?

Here are just a few things I thought I’d share if you’re interested.

A guy I work with is going to give me a bunch of zucchini and cucumbers from their garden. I am planning a loaf or two of zucchini bread, but need some more ideas. Anyone have any good recipes using fresh cucumber? Other than just cutting it up and dipping it in ranch dressing?

I was so excited that Phillip Phillips won American Idol last week.  Was that last week, or the week before?  I watched the recorded version at midnight one night when my body finally found itself in horizontal position.  I digress.  He was my favorite from the very beginning and totally sealed it with that song “Home”. And when he sang it after they announced he won, I had to wonder if Jessica might have known her chances weren’t good when she saw the drum line lined up backstage.

If you don’t watch American Idol this makes absolutely no sense.

I was thinking about having a garage sale soon. I sorted through clothes and attic junk this weekend... I’m now half-tempted to just say EVERYTHING’S A DOLLAR and call it a day. Except for the things I don’t want to sell for a dollar.

On a whim, I bought a new bottle of nail polish at the store yesterday. It’s Essie Turquoise and Caicos and is kind of an aqua color. I think it’s kind of fun for summer but Lucas told me he didn’t think it was appropriate for mommies.

It’s a shame that I had to kick him out of the house. I’ll miss that little fella.

A few weeks ago I read this post by Sarah Bessey and haven’t quit thinking about it. It is just beautiful.

My friend, not in real life but I like him a lot so I consider him my friend, Shaun Groves, is offering an online songwriting workshop on June 14th called Re:Write. It’s a three hour workshop for songwriters at all levels and you can find out all about it by clicking here. I was tempted to sign up until I remembered that I have virtually no musical talent at all.

Unless you count the kazoo. I am a whiz on the kazoo.
And I also play a pretty mean tambourine.

Right now I’m looking into doing Kelly Minter’s Bible study on Nehemiah and it looks so good. It seems like it would be a perfect summer study if you’re looking for one.

Last, I wasn’t asked or paid or bribed to mention any of these things. They are all just things I love right now and thought I’d share.

And don’t forget to tell me if you know any good cucumber or zucchini recipes. Farewell for now.

talkin’ baseball

Here are a few of my favorite pics from HBBA baseball this year.  I don’t have many words today; my last few posts have worn me out word-wise!  Hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed being there to take them.
